Kelly Karavites, a New York based actor and comedian was born in Astoria, Queens, New York City.After serving in the U.S. Army and then a very diverse rewarding corporate life, he embarked on his lifelong dream of acting in theater and film.Kelly is thrilled to be living his dream as a full time actor and is grateful for the numerous positive experiences and friendships he has made in show business.
After graduating from Hunter College with a Bachelor of Arts degree, he took up studies in Theater at New York's Herbert Berghof Studio, HB.At HB Kelly studied acting with Mr. Ed Morehouse and Improv with Mr. John Monteith.
Kelly's recent stage credits include the lead role of Hank Dormit in Paul Trupia's comedy Daydreams in the 18th annual Strawberry Play Festival. Other favorite roles were originating the role of Jimmy French in Walt Vail's Hero Worship, Lord Alfred in Oscar Wilde's A Woman Of No Importance, Dave Williams in Dean Bevan's Haunted, and Tony the cop in Tennessee Williams Small Craft Warnings.
In addition to being a Repertory member of Love Creek Productions, Kelly is a also a life member of The Actors Project NYC where he hones his comedy skills at the Abingdon Theater Industry showcases of comedic monologues and sketch comedies. Look for Kelly in Martin Scorcese's HBO pilot BOARDWALK EMPIRE this fall. Additionally, Kelly will be making his international film debut October 2010 when he appears in Martin Menzel's film Vanishing at the Sapporo International Film festival in Japan
Kelly is also a stand up comedian and enjoys writing and performing his special brand of humor and stand up comedy at clubs across the New York City metro area and beyond.
